Chuck currently holds the slot for the member with the longest active time on the board – 49 years! He is an attorney employed with Hinshaw & Culbertson in Rockford and a long-term member of the OSF Hospital Board. Chuck has been extremely instrumental for advice and business guidance.
Ben joined the bank in 1976 (former engineer), was President and is now the Chairman of the Board. His leadership skills have brought Byron Bank from $4 mm to over $250 mm. His ability to see the needs of the bank as we have grown has been amazing. He is a very hard worker who sets a great example for all the bank employees. Ben has been on the board for 38 years.
Gail joined the bank as an internal auditor in 1984 and is now the Vice President of Marketing. She has been instrumental in the hiring of employees, helping retain those “excellent” hires and in the marketing of Byron Bank. She has also been active in many volunteer organizations. Gail has been on the board for 38 years.
Neal is an educator turned banker! Neal loved the experience he gained so much on the board that he retired from teaching and joined Byron Bank as a mortgage loan officer. With 25 years on the board, the respect he receives from customers and employees is amazing. He demonstrates a loyal commitment to Byron Bank.
Mike is a former Wisconsin banker who came to Byron Bank in 1990. He is now the President of the Bank and brings his extensive knowledge of commercial lending as well as his many years of banking leadership to the board. Mike has been active in many Byron organizations and instrumental in the growth of Byron Bank with his 22 years on the board.
Jen is a former CPA turned banker. Jen quickly learned the banking side of the ledger sheet. She now works at Byron Bank as a Financial Analyst and has been on the board for seven years.
Ron has brought a lot of knowledge to the board gained from his years working for Willett, Hoffman & Associates, his time on professional boards and his many years serving on the Meridian Unit School District Board. Ron has been on the board for seven years.
Craig joined Lundstrom Insurance in 1998 as a Commercial Insurance Producer and became a Partner of the Agency in 2002. Craig received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa in 1993 and earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 2001. He lives in Poplar Grove and will bring a wealth of experience to our board.
Brent Baker has been a Byron resident and bank employee for 11 years. Brent graduated from the University of Iowa in 1992 and coached college basketball for 12 years before meeting his wife, Jennifer and moving to Byron. Brent completed the Community Bankers of Illinois School for Community Bankers, has been the Branch Manager for our Poplar Grove location and currently is in charge of our Business Development Program, while still assisting with Commercial and Mortgage lending. Brent is the current Board President for the Byron Chamber of Commerce, a member of the ByronFest steering committee and keeps busy with coaching any or all of his 3 boys sporting teams.
Jim Retired in September 2016 after 35 years of employment with the FDIC. Most recently, Jim served as an Assistant Regional Director in the FDIC’s Chicago Regional Office. In that position, he was responsible for oversight of the banks and FDIC personnel within the State of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Jim and his wife, Deb, have been married 32 years. They have two grown children, Justine (Mallory) of Manhattan, Illinois and Trent of Chicago, Illinois. In addition, they are proud grandparents of Elias. Jim has been active in various civic organizations including the Byron Park District Board for 15 years (1999-2014). He also served on various church council and committee capacities at the United Church of Byron.
